Cavan County Council has issued a Do Not Consume Notice this morning to customers of the Dernakesh Group Water Supply Scheme. The notice takes immediate effect and was introduced following consultation with the HSE.
The local authority says boiling water will not render it safe to drink and consumers are being advised to use bottled water for drinking, cooking food, and brushing teeth. Alternative supply is being provided from a tanker at Gallonray House in Maudabawn, however, this water must be boiled before use.
Cavan County Council is also advising that water from the hot tap of kitchen or bathroom sinks - supplied by the scheme - is no longer safe to drink.
