Apr 07, 2023Boiling water advisory issued Monday for Fox Crossing residents
FOX CROSSING - A boiling water advisory was issued Monday by the Fox Crossing Water Utility.
The advisory is for the west-side system, which includes an area west of Little Lake Butte des Morts, south of West Prospect Avenue, east of State 76 and north of Larsen Road, according to a map posted by the village of Fox Crossing.
A boiling water advisory is a public notification that advises customers to boil tap water before consuming it. According to Pennsylvania American Water, the advisories are issued when a dedragation to water quality, or a potential dedragation, is known.
The advisory went out at around 1 a.m. on Monday. Property owners who receive drinking water from the village of Fox Crossing, and are within the lines of the map provided in the Facebook post from the village. Property owners who get their water from a private well in the area will not be affected.
It is recommended to boil the water for at least one minute.
According to the village's Facebook post, the advisory will last 24-48 hours, but the exact timing depends on the number of tests needed to make sure the water is safe to drink. Updates will be provided by the village.
After the advisory, it's recommended for property owners to flush their system by running tap water for a short period of time. This will allow the property owner's system to remove any residual air and allow treated water to flow through the pipes.
